mixed media monday - the fiction that results from feeling
"The fiction that results from feeling." Something I cut from a Wallace Stevens poetry book years ago. The end of the year seems like a good moment for finishing touches. This field wanderer and the Wallace Stevens line have been hanging out as a couple on my desk for all of 2016, so it was only appropriate to finally build a mixed media collage around them before another year begins. I had planned something more elaborate for them, but in the end it didn't feel right, and I went with my usual minimally layered style.

While there are some people in the distance, the field wanderer seems like a lonely fellow to me. Maybe I'm just projecting, but in any case I do like the melancholy feel of this man walking away.
Luzula pilosa - a common thing, not much of a looker, but this close up illustration of its flower is a beauty. Modest looking things can hide beautiful details.
I hope all of you have a stress-free week and are able to enjoy the time leading up to the holidays. I had a great Saturday selling my books locally, and I've sort of gone into vacation mode already. Some small projects still in the works, but my main focus is on the 2000 piece jigsaw puzzle on the dining table.
